Pakistan Remote Sensing Society
The Pakistan Remote Sensing Society (PRSS) is the first non-governmental remote sensing society of Pakistan to focus on the Natural Hazards regionally as well as to share its contribution with the international scientific community and policy makers. Pakistan lies in the south Asian region, where the reliance on ground data is not sufficient for drought monitoring, land surface temperature (LST) and soil moisture as well as dry and wet conditions. This is due to the lack of reliable and complete data and proper information network systems, and the lower availability of weather-stations in the region like Pakistan. In contrast, remote sensing technology is being essential to to monitor the land cover changes in region.
The Society will focus on the Drought, land Surface temperature, flood events and climate changes. The society will delineate, explore and highlight the region's natural disasters in any shape for the extreme vulnerability impacts of temperature changes, heat extremes, precipitations, rivers and agriculture in the region like Punjab (Pakistan).
